Symp. on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Amherst in August, 1995, we visited an interesting hydroponics set-up called Bioshelters. In this scenario, a greenhouse houses both a tilapia (fish) farm, and a basil production unit. Tilapia are in tanks below, and hydroponics basil above. Water is recirculated through the system, with the tilapia water supplying nutrients to basil, and basil purifying the water.
