From jcb13@cornell.eduThu Feb 22 12:29:34 1996 Date: Tue, 20 Feb 1996 15:16:05 -0500 From: Jennifer Bokaer-Smith To: sanet-mg@amani.ces.ncsu.edu Subject: CSA Cookbook Sorry I haven't jumped into this cookbook discussion sooner! We put together a cookbook for our CSA last year, and the cookbook came in installments: spring, summer, and fall/winter. We collected recipes from CSA members as well as our own favorites. I think that the members liked that the cookbook worked as a recipe swap. It's especially important to include recipes for any "weird" produce provided by the CSA--strange greens, tomatillos, celariac, parsnips, anything that's not common. If this isn't done, folks can be filled with dread rather than excitment at their share--"What am I going to do with THIS??" If there's any way to have samples for people to try that's even better--my tomatillo salsa is always a big hit. The cookbook is 3-hole punched, so we can provide new recipes each year and members can add the new recipes to their old cookbooks. Good luck! Jen
