Paine" To: sanet-mg@amani.ces.ncsu.edu Subject: hydroponic greenhouse On Friday, 29 September, Don Harris asked about commercial operations that have successfully integrated water treatment with hydroponic plant production. Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) operates a corn and soybean processing plant in Decatur, IL, which uses hot waste water to heat a hydroponic greenhouse. The greenhouse has been in operation since the 1970s and has produced at various times, salad greens, herbs, and miniature roses. I believe it is still in operation, although the information I have on it is not current. Laura Paine University of Wisconsin Agronomy Department lkpaine@facstaff.wisc.edu
