Epic Pinball 12-table from Epic Megagames is a scintillating collection of innovative and graphically striking tabletops that will surely keep every pinhead in fits of rapture for months.

All the major elements you have come to expect in a decent pinnie are present including cannons, dual playfields, flippers, bumpers, sink-holes, kick-outs, multi balls, spinners, return lanes and more. It is a feast for every pinball afficianado.

Tabletops rely heavily on their use of colour and lighting effects to attract the eye and Epic Pinball is no louse in this department either. Bonuses and targets light spontaneously and brightly, lending that real arcade air.

The sound card support is also excellent, with all major cards including the PAS-16, SB-16 and GUS represented. What is more amazing is the quality and clarity of the sonics. The sound of the ball as it whacks around the playfield thumps, as the music belts out in the background.

One criticism of the game is that it appears to replicate older style pins, and does not get into the robot arms and such that is popular on many of today's top arcade faves like ST:TNG & Rescue 911.

The physical model that is employed also seems a little unrealistic. Occasionally what would feel like a hard slam on the flipper would deliver very little force, at other times the slightest nudge would spin the ball right up into the upper playfield - most disconcerting.

In all, Epic Pinball is a solid package of exciting tables that while thematically similar to each other, offer great challenge to novice and pro alike. Infinitely cheaper than pumping coins in at the local arcade, Epic Pinball can help you to bone up on your game at home.
