Subject: Mail list for preachers
The instructions for joining the "PROCLAIM" mail list were incorrect.
As several helpful subscribers pointed out, I had transposed the
list name and the user name in the sample instructions. I've made the
corrections.
Here's the real deal.

PROCLAIM.FAQ
Version 1.01

=====================================================================
"PROCLAIM" is a mailing list devoted to the discussion of issues
related to public preaching and teaching.
I. PURPOSE
A. BASIC PURPOSE
The basic purpose of this mailing list is to discuss public speaking
and oral communication, with particular emphasis upon preaching and
teaching the Bible.
1. Exegesis
One purpose of this list will be the discussion of exegetical issues
arising out of sermon preparation. Please be advised that there are
two mailing lists devoted solely to detailed exegesis in the Greek New
Testament (b-greek@virginia.edu) and in the Hebrew Old Testament
(b-hebrew@virginia.edu) and Semitic cognates.
2. Exposition
For the purposes of this list, exposition is the process of
synthesizing and explaining the fruits of exegesis for the edification
of others. This is one of several 'intermediate' steps between
exegesis and sermon or lesson preparation.
3. Homiletics
For the purposes of this list homiletics is defined as the art and
skill of sermon and lesson preparation. It is the process by which the
fruits of exegetical, historical, cultural and theological studies are
formed into a message that is intended to inform and change the lives
of the hearers.
B. ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION
Among the issues that will be discussed in this mailing list are
1. Sermon notes
2. Exegetical insights and/or questions
3. Applications
4. Illustrations
5. Sermon outlines
6. Asking for help on tough issues/texts
Because sermon manuscripts will typically be five to ten pages in
length
you will be asked not to post entire manuscripts to this list.
