Carl, the textual issue sounds like a good one for the tc-list, so I'll pass
it on. My guess is that the committee gave considerable weight to D and
Aleph*, and then let the harder reading be decisive. As to the TLG, I'll see
if I can search for this or similar constructions, and let everyone know what
I find. I'll also look at the PHI CD. It would be fascinating to find that
there is actually a different meaning suggested by the dative, but that's a
very long shot, I would admit.
