I would offer one follow-up comment to Micheal Palmer's remarks: it is
probably fair to say that the works mentioned are the most recent, and
certainly written and highly regarded by excellent scholars (one of whom is
a friend of mine). The original question about "state of the art" seems to
me to be unintentionally misapplied, though, because I would use this term
in regard to technology that clearly works better than what preceded it,
like the move from LP's to CD's. So far--unless I completely misunderstand
them--the theories in question do not work adequately for me (but then
again, I was also sceptical about cold fusion), and I would hope to see
more extensive research in Greek literature before a final verdict is
claimed.
