And if I may add my own two-bits to Carl's --as always-- well-reasoned and
courteous reponse:

Another perspective on this issue is that there are literally dozens of
mailing-list/usenet-groups/etc which _are_ devoted to questions of Biblical
"interpretation" or discussion of "faith issues". It does not seem wholly
unreasonable that there be one or two such lists that at least attempt to
maintain a scholarly approach to these issues.
