Carl, here's another Kaesemann anecdote, related to your Mark comment.

His Assistent, Rolf Walker, wrote a good dissertation on Matthew. Then he
wrote his Habilitationsschrift for Kaesemann, in which he denied the
correctness of the Messianic Secret in Mark, as put forward by Wilhelm
Wrede.

Kaesemann rejected it, because he held to the Messiasgeheimnis. Rolf
Walker's comment: "Selbst die strengsten Kritiker die Kritik nicht annehmen
kšnnen."

A healthy reminded to us all, I think.
