It appears that a few would like to carry on this discussion of the
cultural background of the word LOGOS as used in John. This is certainly a
very interesting question, but as I think I have hinted before, it is the
sort that belongs rather on Crosstalk, Elenchus, or Ioudaios-L. Personally
I don't think this sort of question is likely to be definitively resolved
within the lifetime of any current participant on the list, but that's
beside the point. The point is that it is not really the text of the GNT
that is now being discussed but the tradition history of an idea within
Hellenistic cultures of the ancient world. This isn't even, properly
speaking, a purely philological question, and this isn't really the place
for it.
