apologies

If I may be so bold as to make an apology to those who are or have been
offended by my tone in recent posts. I realize that my language is both
terse and sometimes overly vivid. I must apologize if that tone is taken to
be condescending or demeaning of anyone's views. That is certainly not my
intention. I have always been rather brief in my writings. Years ago now
when I was defending my dissertation my professorial adversary said "you
write too little, but you say some good things in that little space".
Hence, since, I have always written compactly. But perhaps what I took as a
compliment was really not!

All which is meant to say that sometimes my brevity can be mistaken for
arrogance. Please believe me when I say- not at all! "Me genoito!" as Paul
would have it. I value the opinions of others, and learn much more from
what I read than what I write. Even those I disagree with. As a wise sage
of Israel once said- "the fool can only learn from his friends- but the
truly wise man can learn more from his enemies".

Best to all,

Jim
