Dear B-Greekers,
Please help me in translating Jam 4.5

pros phthonon epitothei to pneuma ho katokisen en hemin

This seems to be a hard phrase to understand even in English (or Spanish,
which is my first language) - therefore I suspect the difficulty is in the
translations. Per example, these are a few options:

KJV James 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain,
The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
NKJ James 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in
vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?
NASBU: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us."
NIV: "The spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely"
NIV footnote: "He jealously longs for the spirit that He made to live in us"

I notice that UBS3c GNT has several options for punctuation in its
apparatus, and also it points to Ex 20.5 as a possible source for the
phrase.

Thank you,
Francisco Orozco
