The use of EIMI as a stative verb was discussed sometime ago and I think it is still in the B-Greek archives.

Going to Exodus 3:14, the title (if spoken by Jesus in Aramaic or Hebrew), may allude to his prior existence. I guess the sense of the passage should be consistent with the intent of the Jews to pick up stones to stone him.

EGW EIMI is likely the equivalent to the phraseology in that cited text.
