Greek Numerals...again

I have no desire to beat a dead horse, but a perusal of the b-greek
archives did not resolve my question so I venture to ask it here:

Does anyone know when Greek letters began to be primed and used as
numbers? Did it begin in Attic Greek, in koine, or sometime in the last
several hundred years?
