JŸrg Buchegger,

<< 1. Can anybody provide me with the exact bibliographical data of the
original (!) work? >>

According to Frederick W. Danker's "Multipurpose Tools for Bible Study"
[1993] Joseph Henry Thayer published his translation of Wilke-Grimm's
second edition (1879) in 1886. A corrected edition appeared in 1889. Most
editions currently in print are reprints. The title of my copy is:
"Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament being Grimm's Wilke's Clavis
Novi Testamenti" translated revised and enlarged by Joseph Henry Thayer,
D.D. (Zondervan, 1975). My copy doesn't have those silly numbers from
Strongs', I assume that those numbers were added later to help those who
can't read Greek make some use of the lexicon.
