I have an alternate suggestion (assuming you still want
to see mail while off during the Christmas break):

1. Open a free email account at Hotmail, Yahoo, Altavista, etc.

2. Set your current email address to redirect incoming mail to
your new (temporary) email address. For example, you could
set up an account at Yahoo, like JimOnTheRoof@Yahoo.com.

3. After the break, simply set your School email account back
so that it does not redirect.

4. You can use the JimOnTheRoof@Yahoo.com later or just forget about it.

After all, who is going to keep us B-Greeker's from straying too far
if you are not keeping a watchful eye on us? :o )

And the roof is a good vantage point for keeping an eye on us.
