Reaching out over the wires------------------------------
Seeking a distraction from the nothing
An unreasonable facsimile,
Life filtered through a keyboard
A nowhere cathode-ray-existence.
Ghost-puppets of the lonely
Exchange a shadowy comfort
That evaporates like dream-visions in the sun.
A salt-water tonic, pleasing to the palate --
It leaves me unsated, thirsty for more.
shawn dowling
Bright with the eerie silver light of a mischievous moon,
Shadows trembling with an electric excitement.
The balmy summer night,
And the sight of tigers at play in the gardens
Entices me,
Ignites appetites I would as soon ignore.
And I would join them,
Predator and prey alike engaged
In a rapturous ritual search for sympathetic strangers,
A dance as old as man.
And silence reigns in the gardens,
Tigers stalking and being stalked on softly padded paws,
The fire of an insatiable desire burning in their eyes,
Tiger's eyes, slitted and wary and very alive.
