Poop:

Few players have had the kind of exposure that Jalen Rose and the rest
of the the Fab 5 have had since day 1. Every mistake and every triumph
has been magnified hugely by the attention. A few, hopefully unbiased
  words on the reality:

Rose is a very talented and versatile player. His ability to get in
the lane and drive the baseline is among the best I've seen. Once
there he finishes well, and has a wide variety of moves and shots in
among the trees. Against the larger players, he uses his quickness to
get to the hole, and he shoots over the smaller guards very
effectively. Jalen has a lot of range on his shot, but it is terribly
inconsistent. Clearly this must get better if he is to be a solid or
  star NBA off-guard.

Rose has excellent ball-handling and passing skills for an NBA
off-guard, but will have to work on both to be a good NBA point guard.
His passing instincts are good, but he is too often careless.

To me, one of the main thing that indicates success in the NBA for a
college player is signifigant improvement over their college career.
This is one of the reasons I think Rose will be an excellent pro.
Since coming to Michigan, Jalen has improved on his passing and
decision making (though it needs to improve more), he has gotten
physically much stronger, allowing him to get shots off in traffic
that he wasn't able to before. Perhaps the most telling improvement
though, has come this year, in his defense. Jalen has developed into
a very good defender, who moves his feet well, and occasionally plays
the passing lanes to good effect.

All in all, I think Jalen Rose will be at least a solid pro, and maybe
an excellent pro. Depending on his showing in the camps, he should be
  chosen between 7 and 15.

Wesley Person ended his career at Auburn as one of the best players in
War Eagle history. Playing mostly at either off guard or small
forward his 4 years, Person, like his older brother Chuck who played
at Auburn from 82-83 to 85-86, was a flat-out scorer. Like Chuck,
Wesley has a great outside shot, and simply can score with the best of
them. Former coach Tommy Joe Eagles considered Person one of the best
pure shooters he had ever seen. Person isn't the greatest
ball-handler, but is solid enough to play off guard in the pros.
Unlike his brother, who had a pretty decent physique, Person lacks a
little bit of strength, and is rather skinny. But, nevertheless, he
is a solid rebounder from the backcourt. Defense might be questioned.
However, Person projects as a 1st round pick, and is one of the top
off-guard prospects available in this year's draft.

Poop:

Temple coach John Chaney has called McKie "a warrior" his highest
compliment. McKie has great size for a shooting guard and is very
strong. However, he is not exceptionally quick nor is he a great
  ballhandler.

Offensively, McKie is a strong player, with NBA three point range.
He is not afraid to take the big shot. He has all the tools to
score both inside and out and with size, he will be able to take
smaller SG's inside and shot over them outside. If he learns to
handle the ball better he will have it all.

He was a good defender in Chaney's matchup zone defense. The matchup
will help him be prepared for the NBA becuase the matchup is very
aggressive and forces him to cover someone man to man in his zone.

McKie should be the second or third shooting guard taken in the draft.

Poop:

Eric Piatkowski finished his 4 year career at Nebraska very strong.
And was easily the player that carried Nebraska down the stretch.
Broke Big 8 tournament single game scoring record with 45 points
against Oklahoma, but was almost unheard from against Missouri the
very next day. Earned the tournament's MVP award. He has an
incredibly smooth outside shot with a quick release, which at
  6-7 creates a big threat from 3-pt....was NU's top 3-pt threat.
All-Big 8 as junior and senior. Runs the break well on the wing.

His senior year started out shakey at best, but he quickly adjusted
his game to the pressure defense that Big 8 teams were placing on
him. Maybe the biggest change came when he started driving to the
basket more often. Who knows why it tood so long for them (Neb
coaches) to make the adjustment, but it's just what he
needed. He has the strength and balance to at least give his shot
a chance in traffic, if not draw the foul and get to the line
where he's a very good ft shooter. Another 'change' was that he
stopped forcing shots and played an overall smarter game on offense.
But his mental lapses are still there...evidenced by a silly 5th
foul near midcourt in overtime against Oklahoma in the regular
season. And he'll occasionally put up a "What the hell was that?"
  shot from the outside.

Defensively, Piatkowski probably lacks the quickness necessary to
effectively cover NBA guards, but was an effective rebounder while
  at Nebraska.

Besides his strong finish his senior year, scouts have no doubt
been impressed with his performances in recent tryout camps and
all-star games. He played well (16 pts?) in the coaches all-star
game in Charlotte Final 4 weekend and was scouted by most NBA
  teams throughout the season.

Good basketball blood, if it matters....father played with the
  ABA Denver Nuggets.

Poop:

As they would say, Gaylon Nickerson has come a long way, baby.
Starting his collegiate career at Wichita State out of Wichita North
HS, Nickerson has then travelled on to Butler County JC, on to Kansas
State, and then onto Northwestern Oklahoma (an NAIA school).
Everywhere he's gone, he has made an impact however. At Wichita
State, he made the MVC all-newcomer team. At Butler County JC, he was
named JUCO player of the year by Basketball Times, and led the NJCAA
all-star team to the gold medal of the Jones Cup in Taiwan, and was
tournament MVP. After 1 year at Kansas State, Nickerson finished his
career this past season at NAIA NW Oklahoma, where he was a NAIA
Division I All-American, was his conference's POY, and set school
marks in points, steals, and free throws made.

Obviously, Nickerson has been to several schools, so reliability may
be a question. However, a similar case could have been made for John
Starks (4 schools in 4 years), but Starks is now an NBA All-Star.
Nickerson is a solid scorer, with point guard capabilities. He is a
ball-hawk on defense, and is a solid rebounder from the guard
position. He is an excellent leaper, as shown by his winning the slam
dunk contest at the Portsmouth Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Nickerson is obviously a sleeper pick. The quality of competition he
faced can be questioned, although he did average 19.7 ppg and 5.7 rpg
in the PIT. Don't be surprised if he makes it undrafted though.
After all, that's where John Starks came from.

Poop:
Billy McCaffrey is a 6'4" shooting guard with some ball-handling
capabilities. Has average leaping ability and quickness. Everytime I
think of his role in the pros I think of Hubert Davis, formerly of
North Carolina, and currently on the New York Knicks.

Strengths: Shooting, quick hands, movement off the ball, and egoless
play. Struggled at times shooting this year due to added
responsibilities, but as a junior, made 53% of his 3's. Just as
importantly, when he's on, it doesn't matter how closely he's being
guarded, they go in. Very good at getting open off screens.

Weaknesses: Susceptible to being pushed around, needs to gain a little
upper body strength. Court awareness could be better also. That is,
he tries to involve his teammates with passing, but his choice of
passes in traffic is often ill-advised. Basic ball-handling skills are
fine. Really quick guards (e.g. Kevin Johnson) would blow right by
  him alot of the time.

Synopsis: Forced to try to do too much for Vandy this year, but
remember, anyone named co-SEC POTY with Jamal Mashburn can play some
hoops. Placed on a team that needs good perimeter shooting, he will
be a big asset. Probably the two biggest question marks are physical
strength, and whether or not his range will extend out to the NBA 3.
3rd hand accounts tell me he did not do real well at the NBA camps
with his shooting, which if true, probably have pushed him into an
early second round pick. Again, I see alot of analogies between him
and Hubert Davis when Hubert entered the league. Billy Mc is a hard
worker and will make some team happy. If he'd redshirted and stayed
at Duke, they could arguably be hoisting their fourth championship
  banner in a row.

Poop:

Damon Bailey completed his 4-year career at Indiana as the
5th leading scorer in IU history finishing with 1,741 points, just
one more than Kent Benson. Damon came to IU with high expectations
of national championships but Damon was just another one of several
talented players that IU already had. Damon was to be the leader
but Damon wanted to just "fit in" and contribute. IU fans
wanted Damon to be the take charge guy, someone like Larry Bird
was. No matter what Damon did, he would be criticized. No college
player in recent memory has been bombarded the way Bailey was by the
media. He handled the situation with class and dignity all the way.
Damon played behind the #1 scorer in Big Eleven history and
the #8 scorer in IU history (Greg Graham) and played with a player
who undoubtedly will be a top 5 IU player in Alan Henderson.

This past year, the team was to belong to Damon. There was no one
to cast a shadow over him this year. Starting off the year, Damon
played brilliantly. He scored 29 against Kentucky and then against
Kansas, Damon scored 36 and almost single handedly won the game save for
a last second clutch shot by Jacque Vaughn. By the time the Big Ten
season started, Damon was averaging over 25 points per game.

As the Big Eleven season progressed Damon seemed to revert to some of
the same old Damon qualities....Defenses pressed him more and made it
more difficult for him to score. On occasion, Damon didn't respond. His
game drifted to the background as it had in the past.

Damon was also plaqued with injuries as the season wore on. A torn
stomach muscle toward the end of the year, limited his drives to the
basket and really hurt his jump shot range. Damon also had a nagging
  knee injury too.

Nonetheless, Damon leaves as the 5th leading scorer in IU history and
2nd in steals and 6th in assists. IU also made the sweet 16 each year
that Damon was at IU advancing to the Final Four once and the Final 8
  once.

Damon has been compared to Scott Skiles in the pro ranks. Damon is
probably just a little quicker than Skiles but the comparison is valid.
Skiles though is a very savvy player. I also believe the same knock
on Damon, quickness, was also held against Skiles. Damon also has the
uncanny knack of being able to post up defenders. He's been able to
score inside against some quality big men, however, that probably will
not be his role in the pros. He has a solid body and should hold up well
to the physical play in the NBA.

Damon also comes to a team as a player who wants to play a role. In this
day of large salaries and even larger egos, Damon will do whatever is
asked and do it to the best of his abilities. He has a lot of potential,
but requires the correct environment with which to blossom. Don't let his
late season performance's fool you. He played injured.

Lenard has all the tools for greatness, he is strong, quick, has
great range on his shots, a good passer and even playes some D.
Lenard loves pressure situations and reacts well. Lenard was a high
school teammate of Jalen Rose in Detroit.

Offensively, Lenard can do it all, he can shoot the three (to NBA range),
can take people off the dribble, and is big enough to shoot over people.
He is a good ball handler and could play some point if you really need
  him to.

Defensively, he seems to try and does a good job, but I would not
  describe him as a stopper.

Lenard might be coming out a year to soon.

One of the best off-the-bench guards two years ago. Stepped up into
starting role this year. Smooth, heady and has a good jump shot.

Strengths: Good ball handler and passer. Descent court awareness.
Good defense - played three spots in college PG, SG, SF. Good
shooting touch and can hit the NBA trey.

Weaknesses: Not real athletic. Lack of on-court assertiveness. Too
  reserved and tentative.

Overall: A descent player to draft in the later rounds to be a good

Brandon probably should have stayed in school for his senior year.
He is a good shooter who has played the point, two guard and small
forward (he is more then likely to small for SF in the pros) and
has some good SG skills. He is a good offensive rebounder for
his size and at 220 he will be able to take most SG's inside.

As a Soph, Brandon was suspended by Dale Brown because of academics
and was left home from a road trip for walking out of a team meeting.

Tarver can play both spots and from what I read his height is legit.
Played well in a recent pro all star camp. Plays both ends of the
court and played all his senior year in pain with bone spurs in his
  ankles which slowed him down.

Strengths: Great defender took Khalid Reeves out when UCLA beat
Arizona. Goes to the hole like Chris Mullin, looks slow but somehow
finds a way to get to the hole and score. Improved his outside shot
every year at UCLA, shot pretty well from college 3 distance, must
improve his range in NBA. Solid player, scores quietly.

Weaknesses: not a great shooter so he has to continue to work on that
area, turnover prone, ballhandling is suspect and tends to force
passes. Might be a tweener, quickness at guard is questionable,
played alot of SF at UCLA and was better close to the basket. Tended
to take some odd shots at times, some thought he was selfish, I think
he just tends to force things at times when things aren't going well
  for the team.

Tarver has a chance to stick, probably better than Gerald Madkins(if
his ankles get better) who stuck in Cleveland this year. Defense and
versatility could help a team, but not likely going to be a starter
ever. I always liked Shon as a player, but he's probably a 2nd round
  pick, maybe late 1st.

Much improved ball handling. Not a great defender, but can get steal the
ball pretty well. Average speed. Very good passer. Is a shooter and
a scorer. Definitely has NBA 3 range. Very creative off drive.
Plays with lots of emotion, sometimes too much, but his head always

Strengths: Has developed his game over his college years, from
driving the lane, to outside shots. Shoots the ball well, handles
the ball well. Definite NBA trey shooter.

Weaknesses: Streaky shooter. Had broken his ankle.

Overall: Should be a 2nd or 3rd rounder pick.

Poop:

Dumas is an unheralded player with big time skills and a good outside
shot. He has excellent size of the shooting guard sport. The postseason
camps will be very important for Dumas, as they will allow scouts to
watch him play against top-flight competition. Dumas averages 26 points
per game to rank 8th in the country in scoring.

More Poop:

Tony Dumas' accomplishments border on the incredible considering that
he played on a weak independent team, using visiting league officials
even at home. He holds team career records in scoring, rebounding,
and free throws (as well as turnovers and fouls), and would have the
assist record too if he had had a teammate who could catch and shoot
on the same play. He has outstanding quickness. He faced junk
defenses most games, and he suffered through a plodding offence that
underutilized his ability. He played 40 minutes many games, often
dominating the second half until tiring late in the game. He
sometimes slacked on defense, wouldn't you?

But can he play in the NBA? He played well against Big 8 teams
despite being outnumbered. Some who watched him in summer leagues in
Kansas City claim that he held his own against Anthony Peeler. The
fans I sit with are divided, some thinking that he has not improved
(including bulking up) in the past two years the way he should.
Compared with area players, I would pick Erik Piatkowski first, but I
can't imagine Melvin Booker, Steve Woodberry or Askia Jones being
picked ahead of him. He will be attractive to a good team -- perhaps
in the second round -- that can afford to give him a chance to develop
  into a quality player.

Weaknesses: Driving, not very strong
Stats:

Poop:

Haslett emerged form the shadow of Clarence Weatherspoon to lead the
country in three point shots made last season. He is a purer shooter
who needs to drive to the hoop more. His 41% field-goal percentage
is somewhat misleading, as 60% of his shots are from beyond the three
point arc. He needs to add more strength. Haslett is leading the
Metro in scoring (20.4 ppg) and free-throw percentage.

Poop:

Probably the best defender in the nation, but has no clue on offense.
As much as I distrust stats, his tell the tale. 39% shooting for his
career, 26% from three point land. I doubt that he will be drafted but
with hard work, he might become a T.R. Dunn type of player.

Poop:

Silky shooting touch reminds of former GaTech'er Dennis Scott.
Ballhandling improved from 2 years ago (when it was abysmal) to the
point where I only flinch mildly when he dribbles. Needs definite
improvement to play in the NBA. Does not create own shot well, but is
improving in this also. Is much more effective off the ball than off
the dribble. Is capable of shooting off a tight screen.

Defensively he is at least adequate. Tends to play up to the guy he's
guarding. Sometimes seems to fall asleep if not guarding Grant Hill
or player of similar talent. Most likely quick enough and big enough
to guard any 2-guard in the NBA.

Adequate rebounder, will probably rebound better in an open NBA style
game than he did at GaTech.
