The Suns pick 27th. This is their second pick in the first round. They
are again represented by:

   Jack Yee-Chieh Chu .

With this pick, he selects:

   Cory Alexander, PG, 6-1. Virginia.

========================================================================
CORY ALEXANDER, Virginia. Coming into last season, he was one of the most
highly touted PG prospects in the country, even after his ankle injury the
previous year. Plays with a style not unlike KJ -- a very quick, explosive
leaper who has a decent shot. Played on a team which excelled in defense,
and thus possesses good fundamentals in man-to-man. Since the Suns had a
pick already, I felt it was worth taking a gamble with Alexander, whose
health and mental strength are questionable -- but holds GREAT potential.
Possible replacement for Elliot Perry, if he goes elsewhere.

Other players considered:

KURT THOMAS, TCU. Impressive numbers, but I'm a bit wary of players out
of the Billy Tubbs system (see Tisdale, King, Harvey Grant) as well as
the general strength of the SWC. Also undersized for a power forward.

JOHN AMAECHI, Penn State. Played against some excellent big men during
his college career. Probably doesn't possess a huge upside, but could
be a solid role player if he developed. Also very smart, which is never
a liability.

JEROME ALLEN, Penn. Good size for a PG, but probably doesn't have the
quickness to play with the elite guards of the NBA. Also has not faced
top-level competition on a consistent basis, though his Goodwill Games
experience is a plus.

RODERICK RHODES, Kentucky. I was tempted to take him simply because of
the possibility of his returning to play one more year of college ball.
Has a game well-suited for the pros, but doesn't really address a need
for the Suns (unless they traded Majerle or didn't re-sign Manning).
