Poop:

With the departure of Khalid Reeves, Arizona was left with a scoring and
leadership void. Lute Olsen basically handed the reins of the team to
Stoudamire and said "go play." All Stoudamire did was to become the first
player in PAC-10 history to lead the league in scoring and assists. An
emotional competitor who isn't afraid to carry a team on his back. Even
with all the press given to Tyus Edney after the championship, Stoudamire
was clearly the best guard in the PAC, wire to wire.

  Offense-->
Strengths: Many. Excellent range on the jumpshot. A blinding first step
and the ability to pull up on a dime from full speed. Passing skills
galore, when he chooses to use them. Loves to take the clutch shot.
Hardaway-esque crossover. Money at the free throw line.

Weaknesses: Shot selection. During a game, he sometimes decides to try
and impress the crowd on occasion and forces up some chuckage from 25'+.
Sometimes presses offensively if he feels his teammates aren't
  contributing enough.

  Defense-->
Strengths: Quick hands. Excellent anticipation in the passing lanes.
  Surprisingly good rebounder.

Weaknesses: Size. Will get posted up by bigger guards until he learns to
be pesky like Muggsy Bogues. Only average on-the-ball defender.

NBA Impact: Has the potential to be a star with the right team,
especially a team with a strong inside game that likes to run.Potential
  to be an immediate starter.

Predicted draft position: Mid 1st round, probably to the Sacramento Kings,
  who have already expressed interest.

Poop:

Childress can be defined by one word: clutch. With the game on the line
the ball would always be in Childress' hand and more often then not he
would come through. Childress had an ACC Tournament that will go down as
one of the greatest of all time, while leading the Wake Forest to their
first ACC title in about 30 years.

Offensively, Childress is a great shooter (although he can be a bit
streaky). He is a true leader who is able to carry a team on his
shoulder. He has improved his ballhandling skills throughout his
career but still has to many turnovers. He also will look for his
own shot a bit to much. Childress is more a shooting guard then a
point guard but lacks the size for the 2 spot. Lack of quickness
will hurt him against many of the best point guards, this could be
  a problem.

Defensively, Childress is a solid defender. Wake would often save him
until the second half of games and then put him on the opponents best
guard. Childress will have a quickness problem against quick NBA players.

Childress is hard to project in the NBA, if he was 6-4 then I would say
a potential All-Star but at about 6-1, he has to play PG and this may
be a problem. Still Childress is a winner, leader and a very hard worker.
No one thought he had a chance of being an ACC player and he proved them
wrong so don't write him off. Childress figures to be a late lottery pick.

Poop:

Best came into Georgia Tech as the successor to Kenny Anderson and at
least as far as individual performance, he did not disappoint. Best
was a big time scorer in high school and was able to make the jump to
college scorer and still be a point guard getting the ball to the other
Georgia Tech players. Still given the talent that Georgia Tech has had
one has to wonder why they did not do better. Best led teams only made
the NCAA twice (none since his sophomore year) and one time they only
made it because of an incredible run in the 1993 ACC (after which they
promptly lost in the 1st round of the NCAA). Best is also a little on
the quite side and does not always give the leadership that a team
   requires from the PG position.

Offensively, Best has all the tools. He has great quickness, knows how
to lead the break and has a great shot to boot. The only negative is that
in the half court offense, GT tended to let Barry run the club. This
may have been more that GT needed his shot so much that they let him
play shooting guard, so it is not necessarily a weakness.

Defensively, Best is good but not great. He does get a fair number of
steals and is a good rebounder for his size, but he does not always
stay with his man as well as someone with that much quickness should
be able to do. He has also been known to get into foul trouble.

Best has all the skills to be an NBA starter for years to come. He
did well at the Desert Classic and should be a mid first round pick.

Poop:

Cory is a question mark. Coming out of high school, he
was one of the most coveted players in America. In his
sophomore season he was a star in the ACC, leading Virginia to
a 20-win season and a berth in the Sweet Sixteen. Alexander
was second team all-ACC behind Bobby Hurley. He was the bulk
of Virginia's offense that year. Going into his junior year,
Cory was expected to challenge for All-American honors. A
broken right ankle killed that season. Coming into this past
season, the ankle was supposed to be 100% and Cory was supposed
to take over the point guard duties from Harold Deane, who
would move to shooting guard as Cory's sidekick.
	Alexander's performance was erratic. Throughout
December, Alexander had some pathetic outings, while his best
games were against clearly inferior opponents. Once the ACC
season rolled around, Alexander's game picked up. However, he
still was inconsistent. He did not seem to have the great
speed and explosive leaping ability of his sophomore season.
Then the broken right ankle ended this season as well.
Cory's potential is great. At his peak, he was one of
the fastest players in the country. With the dribble, he could
beat most players down the court. He was a great leaper, able
to dunk over shotblocking centers. He had the ability to drive
to the hoop and either go to the hole or pull up for a
highly-accurate jumper. His three-point shooting was good. He
  also had good passing ability.
After the ankle injury, the speed, leaping ability, and
driving appeared diminished. Cory still had good passing
skills and shooting form, but he was quite erratic and prone to
making mental errors. Cory certainly possesses the skills and
talent to be a star, but the soundness of his ankles and the
mental parts of the game are weaknesses. Cory is at best a
  mid-to-late second round pick.

Poop:

Allen was the a key player in returning Penn to national prominence but
turning down a chance to play at larger schools to remain close to home
and play for Penn. Allen is the type of player that can dominate a
game without scoring a lot of points. He is a muscular player who can
  do it all.

Offensively, Allen takes the ball strong to the hoop and is good at drawing
fouls. He has good quickness and is a good passer. He has a good shooting
stroke but needs to improve his range in the NBA.

Defensively, Allen is very strong. He has long arms and stays with his
man. He is a very good rebounder for his size.

Allen projects to a point guard in the pros. He played in the Desert
Classic but did not distinguish himself. He averaged 7 points, 3 rebounds
and 4.5 assists. Allen figures to be a second round pick.

Poop:

Corey Beck was the starting point guard for the Arkansas team that won
the national championship in 1994 and for the team that made the finals
in 1995. Beck was named to the All-Final Four team in 1994. He is an
  excellent leader and very unselfish.

Offensively, Beck is a good point guard. He makes sure that the right
people get the ball and is very unselfish. He needs to improve his
outside shooting. He was never much of a scorer but he can when he
needs to (witness his 15 points in the 1994 championship game against
Duke). He is not a very good free throw shooter.

Defensively, Beck is very good. He is very tenacious and was the key
player in the Arkansas' trapping full court defense. He is very strong
and is a good rebounder for his size.

Beck played in the Desert Classic and did very well averaging 11.5 points,
3 rebounds and 4 assists. Beck should be a second round pick.

Poop:

Snow arrived on campus as current-NFL linebacker Percy Snow's little
brother, and for a couple of years it looked as if that is the only
way we'd ever think of him. But in his last two years at MSU, alongside
offensive powerhouse Shawn Respert, Snow blossomed into one of the
finer point guards in the NCAA. From a kid who couldn't hit the easiest
shots, he developed shooting touch that made him a realistic threat.
But the skill that carried him through, and on top of which he built
his talents as a player, is his speed. Snow is a well-balanced
  player.

Offensively, he is a very good ball handler, a deft passer, and a
player who can drive the middle and make something happen. At MSU,
that something was often a kick out to Shawn Respert or a dump off to
a Spartan forward for an easy baseline shot. Snow's scoring skills
are, on the other hand, definitely his weakest point. He struggled
much of his career as a shooter of jump shots and free throws. Even
lay-ups haunted him at times. Over the course of his career, though,
he worked hard to become a decent jump shooter, at least enough so
that his defender had to stay honest. That's the role he'll play
offensively as a pro, too: shoot enough to keep the defense honest,
but otherwise drive and create scoring opportunities with his passes.

Snow is a top-notch defender. His hand- and foot-speed make it
possible for him to stay on defenders with no breathing room, and to
recover on occasions when he has been beaten to the step. Snow was
among the leaders in steals as a junior and senior in the Big Ten and
faced off against a number of very good point guards. Early in his
career, defense kept Eric on the court long after most fans would have
put him on the bench for offensive miscues. He may very well be able
to have a similar mark in the NBA.

Until the last year or so, few people thought of Eric Snow as
draftable. But his senior season has definitely raised the
possibility that he could go on one of the under sixty picks to be
made. Snow is perhaps a touch small at 6'-3" and will need to put on
some weight to take the pounding he'll get in the NBA, but he matches
up well with most PGs in the league. He is an outstanding defensive
player whose shortcomings as a scorer will be more apparent in the
NBA. I like his chances for an early second-round selection, though
some better team in need of a point guard may gamble late in the
  first.

Poop:

Tony Miller was the starting point guard for the Marquette Warriors /
Golden Eagles for the past four years. He is the all-time assist
leader for Marquette and the Great Midwest Conference, and ranks in
the top ten in all- time NCAA assist leaders. He stood out in his
junior year especially when Marquette made its sweet sixteen
appearance, but seemed to struggle at times last year under first year
  coach Mike Deane.

Miller's offensive skills revolve around one facet of the game -
passing. He is excellent at reading the opponents defense and running
offensive schemes that exploit defensive weaknesses. He is suberb at
feeding the low- post player, and is fairly good at feeding players
cutting through lanes or toward the basket. One must realize that
Marquette did not run the floor much when Miller was there, so his
ability in that area has really not been determined. Miller's
mid-range outside shot is erratic at best and the NBA three-point line
will simply be to far for him to hit consistantly. His shot gets much
worse if he has to either shoot on the move or with a hand in his
face. One thing that puzzles me about Miller is that he really can
create off the dribble on a drive to the basket, but often seems
unwilling to do so. He has a quick first step and a good eye for the
  open man in these situations.

Miller's defensive skills are very good. In his sophomore and junior
years, of the five times he played an Anfernee Hardaway lead Memphis
team, he held Hardaway to less than fifteen points on four of those
occasions (From memory). He is fundamentally perfect when playing
defense - uses his feet mostly and his hands well. He is not
spectacular on defense when forced into one on one situations however,
which may hurt him in the NBA - he just doesn't have the physical
skills. Team defense is his specialty and IMO he will be able to pick
up the complicated defensive schemes of the NBA.

IMO, Tony Miller is at best a late-second round pick and I am being
very generous when I say that. He is extremely intelligent,
team-oriented, and unselfish - perfect qualities for a point guard.
However, the lack of scoring ability, quickness, speed, and height
will hurt him in the NBA. He would be like a taller Mugsey Bouges but
without the quickness and speed that makes Bouges so dangerous. Also
his ability in the open court is a question. He would be a good role
player and would work well off the bench on a team where low post
scoring is emphasized. Do not expect him to score much however.

Although not a future all-star, Matt Maloney has the potential to be a
solid role player in the Steve Kerr mode: a solid ballhandler with
good long range shooting ability. The son of a Temple assistant, he
has amazing fundamentals which make up for the fact he isn't the
quickest guy in the world, although he is deceptively quick. At 6'3"
his height is neither an advantage or a detriment.

Offensively, Maloney is most well-known for his long-range
shooting. He is very streaky but when he is hot, he almost never
misses. However, he may be better at ballhandling. He _never_ picks up
his dribble and is a very good penetrator. His biggest weakness is the
streaky nature of his shooting he can go ice cold at any time. He is
equally at home running or in a slower offense.

Defensively, he has solid footwork and has shown the ability to cover
players who are quicker and taller than he is. He had no problem
matching up against Kerry Kittles, Dugan Fife, or Rick Brunson. Heady
and hard working, he is the prototypical gym rat. He looked very good
against tough competition on the Preseason NIT-Foot Locker all-star
team that toured Europe last summer. He was drafted by the New Jersey
  Turnpikes of the WBL.

Poop:
Kevin Ollie is a prototypical "pass first, shoot second" point guard.
He was also an excellent defender in UConn's pressing and trapping
  style defense.

Able to feed the post well, throw "Ollie-oops" for dunks, make good
decisions on the break, and penetrate in the half-court and dish, his
main offensive weakness seemed to be long range shooting as he was
often reluctant to take the three. It didn't hurt UConn, though,
because of their many long range bombers. Under his leadership they
were able to dominate the Big East during regular season and advance
to the West regional finals where they lost to eventual champion UCLA.

Possibly a second round pick, he'll have to work hard to avoid
  becoming the next Greg Anthony.

Poop:

Going by his performance this past year, I'd say he was more valuable
to the Gophers than Voshon Lenard. I don't think Orr has been invited
to any post-season tryouts, and I think I read that he may go overseas
somewhere. He has a nice 3-pt shot, and he's a pretty good
rebounder. When he was on, he was awesome, but when he was off, he was
terrible. My biggest complaint about Orr, Lenard, and the Gophers in
general was that they tried to live (and die) by the 3 point
shot. Even when the shots weren't falling, they kept trying to pump
them in, and forgot about any kind of inside game. I don't think
either Orr or Lenard would do very well in the NBA to start out. Maybe
after some seasoning in the CBA, or overseas they could find a
spot. But then again what do I know? I NEVER would have guessed that
Walter Bond, or Jim Petersen (both former Gophers) ever would have
seen the light of day in the NBA!

Poop:

Like former Portland high school standouts Damon Staudamire and
Terrel Brandon, I've seen Williams develop. Leading his school to the
state title, Williams was the states player of the year. Since then,
he's been through two coaches with different styles of basketball at
Oregon. To be honest, I'm a fan, but I can't see him sticking in the NBA.

Tremendous range on his jump shot and strength are his major assets.
His big problems are finishing on the break and putting the ball on
the floor. He's also very streaky. Unstopable in the win against the
Bruins, but had an awful FG % against the other Pac-10 powers.

Defensively he's average, he's not quick enough to cover most 2's,
but not tall enough to play anywhere else. He does does have great
endurance, but not quick feet on defense.

Overall I don't see him going in the draft.

"One of the best long-range shooters in the country, Dillard
returned to school this fall thinking he needed to score more off the
dribble. Nolan Richardson says Dillard got the idea from NBA scouts and
player agents. So Dillard quit drilling faraway jumpers and started
forcing shots on the run. Richardson watched the nightmare unfold and
then issue and ultimatum: Lose the dribble stuff or lose the job.
Dillard lost the dribble and returned to his rightful place on
  the perimeter."

             				-Gene Wojciechowski (Sporting News)

Although Dillard brings great free throw shooting and 3pt.
shooting to the table, I can't see him going until one of the last picks
of the second round. One problem is that he's at least 3-4 years older
  then the average rookie.

*JC who had to sit out 1st semester of jr. season due to trouble
   with the law

  *Pac-10's top non-freshman newcomer.

  *Jr. year, 9.7 points, 7.1 assists, 39.1% 3pt, 66.3%

*Redshirted sr. year due to a broken bone in his foot.

Despite having the good qualities of a true point guard (good assist-
turnover rate and plays a good amount of minutes), his poor shooting well
  prevent him from being drafted.
