Poop:

Jerry is one of those special players that are a joy to watch. He is
one of the hardest working players that I've ever seen, watch him without
the ball and you will see constant motion. Stackhouse came in to the
program as the next Jordan, although he did not lead UNC to a title like
Jordan, he certainly did not disappoint.

Offensively, Stackhouse is great at driving to the basket, either finishing
or drawing a foul (he gets to the line a *ton*). He has really worked
hard at improving his range (from 2 for 20 to 37 for 90). He has a real
nice looking shot, however it is still a little flat and takes to long to
get off (not a real quick release). Still it got better as the year went
on and I expect him to have a great outside shot before his career is
done. Stackhouse turns the ball over way to much and will need a much
better dribble to be a NBA guard. Stackhouse is a *great* offensive
  rebounder.

Defensively, Stackhouse needs a lot of work. He tends to overplay the
steal and leaves his man to much. However, he wants to be know as a
complete player and worked hard at this. Stackhouse was also hurt a
bit by playing PF this year after Sullivan went down with an injury.
He was forced to play close to the basket against bigger people. This
will cost him a bit in the NBA where he will play smaller/quicker players.
Stackhouse is a *great* defensive rebounder.

Stackhouse will be a top 5 pick. He is a very hard worker who wants to
be great, and will do whatever is necessary to achieve that. He also
wants to win and his play at the end of games was great. I would bet
his turnovers where much lower in the final 5 minutes. Stackhouse is
one of my favorite players ever at UNC, I'm just sorry that we did not
  get to see him longer.

Offense. Was a power foward in college but projected as small
foward in NBA. Excellent post moves including left handed jump
hook to about 12 feet out. Solid offensive rebounder. Quick and
has good ball-handling for someone his size he can dribble
the whole floor and make the shot. Also very good 3pt man.
shot 78% from free throw line this year. Had double figures
in scoring every game this season. Not yet tested at the SF
position. Did have ACL tear though appears to be well recovered.
  Unselfish and a team player.

More Poop:

O'Bannon was considered one of the top players when coming out of high
school. Originally signing with UNLV, O'Bannon transfered to UCLA after
UNLV was placed on probation, and promptly blew out his knee and people
wondered if he would ever be the same. It took 5 years but O'Bannon
finally became a superstar leading UCLA to the national championship
  and winning several POY's.

Offensively, O'Bannon is a versatile athlete who can finish on the break,
score inside and out. He greatly improved his outside range and became a
  legitimate three point threat.

Defensively, he needs to become stronger and learn to guard smaller and
quicker players then he had to in college. Ed is a good rebounder.

O'Bannon will be a high lottery pick. He is a mature person (and player)
and will add leadership and class to any team that picks him.

Poop:

Trent had a great start to the 94-95 year leading Ohio to the Preseason
NIT title (and winning the MVP). He was slowed by injuries but still
had a great overall year. He was the MAC POY three years in a row.
Trent is very strong and has a good low post game and has worked hard
on his outside game (although this is still his weekness). He is more
a PF in a SF's body so there is concern that he may lack the quickness
to guard the more athletic SF's in the league. However Trent has good
work ethic and should work hard. He can bench press 390 pounds and has
a 45 inch vertical leap. He should be a lottery pick.

Poop:

Forrest came out of high school as one of the highest rated prospects
ever to come out of the state of Georgia. Georgia Tech highlights
include a three pointer at the buzzer to beat Southern Cal in the
1st round of the NCAA his freshman year. Forest put on one of the
most impressive three game displays ever at the ACC in 1993 propelling
Georgia Tech to the ACC tournament championship. The last two years
have been mostly disappointments for Forrest and GT with no NCAA
appearances, inconsistent play and injuries that has cost Forrest
several games the last two years.

Offensively, Forrest has many nice skills close to the basket (a good
drop step and fall away). His strength helps him maneuver around taller
players. His range goes out to at most 15 feet. He is an average
  free throw shooter.

Defensively, Forrest has been a week spot for Georgia Tech his entire
career. He was threatened with benchings durning his junior year for
lack of defensive effort. His weight problems the last couple of years
only seemed to intensify the problem. However he is a good rebounder.

Durning his sophomore year, Forrest was projected as a sure future lottery
pick, now a mid-first rounder. Part of the problem is what forward position
do you play him. He is not really tall enough to be a power forward and
his perimeter skills are not strong enough to play small forward at the NBA
level. Overall Forrest has a ton of talent, how he does in the NBA though
  remains a big question.

Poop:

"He has averaged 24 ppg. over the last 2 seasons. He scores from
inside and outside, but is at his best shooting the 15-18 foot jumper off
the dribble. He can shoot going to his left and his right.

Though Ford has improved his 3 point shooting (30% over his first
2 seasons and 35% this season), he is still streaky from beyond 20 ft.
and needs to improve as a catch-and-shooter.

He uses his body well to sneak inside for easy buckets, but needs
to take the ball all the way to the basket. It would draw fouls and take
advantage of his free-throw shooting (77% this season).

Like many small forwards on the college level, ball handling is
an area in which he is competent, but could improve. He jumps fairly
well, has long arms and is a very good rebounder (9.5 per game) for his
size. He runs the floor well and has good quickness.

He is a streaky player on defense who is averaging just under 2
  steals per game."

Sherrell Ford came from a big-time HS program in Proviso East,
where he was teammates with the likes of Michael Finley and Donnie
Boyce. Ford might just be the best of the 3 players. After
sitting out his 1st year at UIC as Prop 48, Ford was a dominating
force for 3 years on the offensive and defensive ends. Ford is
flat out a tremendous scorer -- he can score inside and out, and
is a high-flyer at rim level. For a SF, he will really be able to
grab some offensive boards in the NBA. He is a tremendous worker,
and it extends off of the court, as he is working towards his
degree while overcoming a learning disability. Ford was named
MVP at one of the pre-draft camps and could be picked as high as
the middle of the 1st round.

Poop:

Lou Roe was often a man among boys while on the court. Very strong,
and at 6'7" (a height that may shrink in the pre-season camps) he
very much held his own in the paint offensively and defensively.
He is a rebounder supreme and can also block his share of shots.
Roe had a tremendous work ethic -- while there are still questions
about his perimeter game -- during the Goodwill Games, he was often
the last to leave practice, as he would practice (and reportedly
make quite a few) his 3-pt shooting. Roe also probably works as
hard as anybody in the game. Especially during a big game, he will
rise to the occasion (as shown in the Arkansas game in the Tip-off
classic). Roe still seems to be a tweener in the eyes of many
scouts though, as they are not sold on his game facing the basket.
The future is also unclear whether or not he will be a PF or a SF,
although it seems likely he will play both positions. He projects
as high as the mid-late lottery in the draft.

Poop:

Eric is an almost Pippen-like forward because of his incredible
versatility. I say almost because he can't handle the ball or run an
offense like Pippen but in terms of scoring ability, they are similar.
He has a wide array of one-on-one and post moves and can score from
just about anywhere on the floor, in addition to being able to set up
  his teammates.

He would have been in the race for Big East Player of the Year had he
not been on such a miserable team, but he was instrumental in
Providence's two big upsets of the year when they beat Villanova and
UConn in the space of a week. He also played well during the Big East
tournament when Providence upset Syracuse, and during NIT.

He should be a first round pick, but may slip to the second round.
Though he could just as easily slip to the lottery.

Poop:

In addition to his stats,he has brought great leadership to the team
and has often served as its "quarterback" in critical situations. His
intensity sometimes overflows in anger, and he is occasionally
absent-minded,but he can shoot well from outside, drive to the hoop, and
his 3-point abilities are improving.I thinkhe can be a real asset to
  some benighted NBA team!

Scout: Art Waldman

More Poop:
His shot selection has been questionable, to say the least, in that he
made himself the offensive leader of a team on which he was _clearly_
not the best offensive player. He particularly has a bad habit of
shooting _any_ open 3-ptr, despite an atrocious percentage --
apparently not understanding that the reason he's open so much is that
the opposition _wants_ him to shoot.

At the same time, Donny's in the mold of John Starks -- you wouldn't
want him to be thinking too much on the court, because it would take
away from his best qualities, which are his aggressiveness and will to
excel. I never would have thought he could be among the conference
scoring leaders, but this year he was. He also vastly improved as a
rebounder when we needed him. Of especial note is his fine free-throw
shooting; although not a reliable jump-shooter, he has a knack at the
  charity stripe.

Donny is very good at cherry-picking; that sounds derisive, and yet he
finds a way to outlet consistently and still have a presence on the
boards. He must have scored six or eight points a game by breaking
downcourt. He has a good courtsense and generally is in the right
place at the right time. Of course, as that last stat suggests, his
half-court offense is not as impressive as his gaudy scoring totals
  might lead one to believe.

As his height and weight suggest, Donny has an NBA small-forward
body. The question now is, can he dribble and shoot well enough? I
also wonder whether he can accept being a role player, which he
clearly will be at the next level, or whether he will continue trying
to force his offense beyond his abilities. For all the fun he's been
to watch, I would not want my NBA team to take too much of a chance on
  Donny Marshall.

Jarvis Lang landed on the collegiate scene with a bang, as he
led all freshmen in scoring and rebounding in 90-91. However,
it came down a little fast, as the following year, he went down
with injury after only 2 games. But after taking the redshirt
year, Lang came back to form and finished off a sterling career
at UNCC. Lang is a tremendous inside player for his size, and
works hard inside. He is a powerful guy who likes to take it
to the glass and finish off with the dunk. This past season,
he moved his game a little more out to the perimeter and showed
some range on his shot. Defensive, he is very active and can
block some shots. His pro position may be at SF, but like
some others in the draft, is caught between positions due to
size considerations. However, his work ethic is right up there
and he should be able to adjust at either position. Could be a
late 1st rounder, or a steal in the 2nd.

Poop:

  Strong points:
excellent penetration moves, although occasionally he will
overcommit and get in too deeply with no clue about what
he is doing). Often can draw a foul and hit the free
throws. He is as close to a "go-to" guy as UK has had
        since the time of Mashburn.
excellent with assists, especially when he is not scoring
        well himself.
very good rebounder for his size.
very good ball-handling (I've heard some folks knock him on
this account, but I think he has NBA-guard-class ball
handling abilities already). Pretty good in making steals.
very good free throw shooter (was once excellent, but a
couple of letdown performances this season reduced this
        somewhat).

  Weak points:
occasionally streaky shooting, and he doesn't know when to
        stop sometimes when he's behind.
can overcommit on dribble penetration and get trapped.
can forget to play team ball at times. Can play in an
immature fashion when not shooting well.
tends to want to shoot the 3 more often that coaches want
him to (although this may not be a liability in the pros.
Still, his 3 point shooting percentage is streaky). Worse
he tries to shoot it when closely guarded ("in your face!")
instead of always using his screens.
appears to be a trash talker, which may not hurt him in the
NBA but which I count as a liability. His talking and anger
have occasionally cost him technical fouls.

  Probable NBA position:
can play either shooting guard or small forward,
with greater probabilities for the latter. If he could
only develop a little more consistency with his 3 point
shot (which occasionally can be excellent), he could
     play either position equally well.

Cuonzo is a devestating defender and quiet floor leader. Between his
sophomore and junior seasons, he developed his outside shooting and
became an excellent college 3-pt. shooter. He often would defend the

2-guard in the NBA. However, you'd have to be insane to draft him:
he's never dunked in college, because of his knees. He has had

Poop:

Sessoms is a great shooter! His three point shooting percentage not
with standing, he can really light it up from outside. With ODU's (and
the CAA's) best player (Odell Hodge) hurt for the year, Sessoms really
stepped it up and lead ODU to the CAA league championship, the NCAA and
an upset over heavily favored Villanova. Sessoms is also a very good
  rebounder for his size.

Sessoms has the skills to play SG in the NBA but needs to work on his
ballhandling and cut down the turnovers. Sessoms is not a great
defensive player but at 6-7 with good quickness, he can be if he works
  at it.

Sessoms was invited to the Desert Classic and was a starter for the
Pacific team. Look for Sessoms to be a potential second rounder and
  stick with some NBA team.

Poop:

Chris Carr is an 6-6, 200 pound small forward from Southern Illinois
University. He declared for the NBA Draft this month citing that he
"did all he could do" at SIU. However, talk has surfaced since his
decision that Carr did not have the grades to continue at SIU.

As a freshman, playing in the shadows of 1993 MVC Player of the Year
Ashraf Amaya, Carr averaged 3.9 points and 3.5 rebounds for the
Salukis. He shot 59 percent from the floor that season.

Carr then blossomed as a sophomore, scoring 14.1 points and pulling
  down 6.6 boards per contest.

This past year at SIU, Carr averaged 21.9 points and 7.3 rebounds on
his way to the Missouri Valley Conference's MVP Award. The Salukis
were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament's first round by Syracuse in
  the Midwest Regional.

Carr is a serious scoring threat inside, but will his height hinder
his scoring ability at the next level? To be sure, the MVC is not the
ACC. Carr has an OK outside shot, but needs to develop more
consistency with it. Consistency is Carr's biggest obstacle. His own
coach, Rich Herrin, on several occasions said that Carr must become a
more consistent player. While he had great stats this past season,
that statement might reflect more on Carr's attitude than anything
  else.

Some team with veteran experience may be willing to use a second round
pick on Carr in the upcoming NBA Draft. If not, he is a likely
candidate to play overseas. If he does stick in the NBA, it will be on
  the end of someone's bench.

Poop:

Ray was the least heralded member of the "Fab Five" class, but emerged
by his senoir year as the best player on the team, eclipsing King as
the team leader. Everything he has accomplished he has earned. He
went from the player who made people cringe when he had the ball in
his freshman and sophomore seasons to the player everyone wanted to
have the ball in a tight situation as a senoir.

Ray doesn't have great shooting ability. He scores most of his points
driving to the hoop. His senoir year he did develop a reliable
jumper, and hit over 75% of his free throws. His first three seasons,
he was not a scorer, but when Michigan needed point production out of
him his senoir year he responded, including a 28 point game, the
highest point total of any Michigan player in a single game this year,
in his final game as a Wolverine. In addition to scoring, Ray is a
good rebounder and a good passer. He could be faulted for turnover
  problems.

Ray leaves no doubt that he is a great defender. He constantly
harrasses his man, and can defend both quicker players and bigger
players. He usually drew the toughest defensive assignments during
his career. With the duo of King and Jackson on defense, Michigan
managed the lowest FG% defense in Big Ten history (holding opponents
to under 40%). He prevents a player from driving on him, and is
usually tight enough to keep the other team from passing to his man.

Overall, Ray has developed into a very good player. He has worked
hard to improve his game, and was Michigan's best player this year
when many thought King would lead the team. Not NBA starting
material, but could develop into a solid player.

Poop:

While Damon Stoudamire got all the ink in Tucson, Ray Owes was quietly
the heart and soul of the Arizona team. Workmanlike, he worked his way by
his senior year into one of the better PFs in the league. Never flashy,
  but always a contributer.

  Offense--->
Strengths: Good mid-range jumpshooter, taking the three when available
(about 30-35% from that range). Solid but unspectacular post moves. Good
scorer on the offensive glass. Good hands. Doesn't turn the ball over much.

Weaknesses: Ball handling is a problem, and doesn't really have any moves
out on the floor -- instead settling for jumpers. Streaky from the line.
Often not assertive enough on the offensive end.

  Defense-->
Strengths: Solid man defender in the post. Only got torched by tweeners
like Ed O'Bannon. Good shot blocker -- excellent timing. Rebounding
  machine.

Weaknesses: Footspeed. Questionable ability to guard some big SFs like
he'll have to do in the pros.

Impact: The kind of player you'd want coming off the bench. Someone
who'll come in the game, give you 15-18 solid minutes get some tough
rebounds, and inspire people by hard work. Also a level head that'll
serve as a good example. Definitely a keeper somewhere.

Predicted draft position: Early-mid 2nd round.

As far as Dejan Bodiroga, he plays in the Italian League, so I
don't know nearly as much. I can tell you that he is of the Danilovic
(who's NBA bound with the Heat) mold. A great motivator, penetrator and
shooter. He is NOT a small forward, and I see from your post, that the NBA
scouts are making the same mistake as with Toni Kukoc, and ignoring his
natural position. Kukoc is a 3, and he can play 2 an 1 also. He is not a
  4. Look at the problems the Bulls are having now, because of their
scouting folly. Bodiroga is a 1, and he can play 2 also.
He is a star in Italy, and has helped his team Stefanel Milan, to the
Korac Cup final, this year. Expect him to go in the 50's, largely because
  he is underrated.

Gray was off to a big senior season before being kicked off the team for
academic reasons. This was unfortunate because Gray had suffered a
heart attack just after his junior year and worked extremely hard to get
himself ready for his senior year.

Gray is a big time base line player who is a great finisher. He also has
a nice touch around the rim. However he is not a trur small forward but
not big enough to play PF. Gray had absolutely great games against Duke
(averaging 19.5 pts and shooting 58.6% in 7 career games aginst Duke).
On the down side, he has no range and is a horrible FT shooter.

Given his health and size, it is doubtful that Gary will be drafted. He
might have a CBA career or maybe Europe.

Born was the most feared shooter in the Southern conference. His shooting
however took a huge dive from his junior year. He did make big
improvements in his rebounding and his defense improved as well. Born
  will probably not be drafted.

Poop:

Buckley arrived in Berkeley at the same time as Lamond Murray and
found himself stuck behind Murray at the 3 for much of his first two
years. His playing time increased considerably as a junior, when
Murray spent much of his time at PF, and Buckley was rarely rested
as a senior. Buckley is a tough, versatile defender with good 3-point
range and a solid finsher in the open floor.

Positives: Good 1-on-1 defender, Buckley was often matched against the
opponent's best scorer. Good hustle, good feet, more of a position
defender than a guy who gets a ton of steals. A smart complementary
player, Buckley was able to provide rebounding and passing as needed
to this year's team. Already has NBA range on the 3, and leaping
ability and soft touch around the basket make him an asset on the
  break.

Negatives: Skinny, may get pushed around early on. Emotional; had
trouble keeping focus at times, although that improved markedly
through his senior year. Biggest problem is a limited offensive
game. Doesn't put the ball on the floor well facing the basket, hasn't
shown much of a pull-up jumper.

NBA Prosects: Unlikely to get drafted, he's in the big "might stick
somewhere" pool. There are a ton of good players out there in the
6'4" to 6'7" range, and he could get lost in the shuffle. If he sticks
it will be because of his defense impresses coaches. He's used to
doing whatever is needed to support stars, and has enough of an
offensive game to make a defense pay attention to him, so he might
find a role on an NBA team.

James Scott, a JuCo transfer, started much of last season. At the
start of this year, with the addition of heralded freshman Felipe
Lopez, he was relegated to the bench. His outstanding play off the
bench forced Coach Mahoney to put him back in the starting lineup.

James is a gifted face the basket offensive player. At 6-6, he was
small forward in college, and has good size for an off guard in the
NBA. He can hit three's out to NBA range but he is somewhat
inconsistent. He isn't that great a ballhandler as he has a high
dribble. He has a good first step and finishes well, but his best shot
is the pull up off the dribble. He's not the best defender, but he
  seems to try hard.

He should be taken in the second round, but may go undrafted. If he
becomes a more consistent shooter and improves his handle, he can be
a good backup in the NBA.
