Scouting Report: Matt Smith [mnm@sol.digitalpla.net]
Since I have had season tickets to the Utes for the last 8 years, I guess I can give you a scouting report on Michael Doleac... ;)

He's a legitimate big post player. He's got great hands and a soft touch. He will catch pretty much anything that's thrown his direction. He's an 85% FT shooter, which is a big plus for a post player. He can also hit the 20' jumpshot at around a 40% clip, so he's a definate outside threat as well. He's a very strong rebounder and uses his body well on defense. He's not a real shot blocking threat. His mainstay on defense is keeping his body between the ball and the basket, but he does play very smart defense. The defense at Utah relied on defensive help from the inside players. He won't block shots, but he will influence them if guys come his direction. He runs the floor extremely well for a guy his size, a trait he probably learned while playing with Keith Van Horn. He's not very quick which can be a downer in the NBA against the quicker centers like Olajuwan and Robinson.

He has slow feet. He's not a very good post defender. He's not very explosive but he's big and strong. He has some decent post moves down there. He's going to play 10~12 years in the NBA because he is very solid. A blue-collar kind of guy.
