Scouting reports

Scout: JazzyJ

Along with Lebanon Valley's Andy Panko, Devean George is a legitimate prospect from Division III for the NBA Draft, and both look to be the first Division III player picked since Lamont Strothers. As is the case with most physical specimens playing at a lower level, George was a man amongst boys. Simply bigger and taller (although more like 6'6" rather than his listed 6'8") than the others in his league, George was able to dominate inside. Not a great shooter from the perimeter (although as you can tell from his stats, he was never afraid to launch 'em from outside), and that may hurt his chances a bit since he is projected as a small forward at the next level.

However, George has perhaps won some scouts over in the pre-draft camps, as he participated in Portsmouth, and put up a double-double in each of the three games he played in. He was also named to the all-tournament team. He was not invited to Phoenix, but could sneak into the Chicago camp, and if so, could only increase his stock at this point -- which is as a borderline 2nd round pick.
