Desmond Mason is one of the most underrated players in this years
draft. Mason will probably go late-late 1st round or early second round
but whoever gets him will be getting a bargain to get him that late.
Mason was the go-to guy while playing for Oklahoma State. He is
tremendously athletic and plays tenacious defense. On the offensive end, he
was once thought of only as a slasher and a high-flyer, but in his
senior campaign he showed he can hit the 3-pointer as well as the
mid-range jumper to go along with his ability to finish around the basket and
get out on the fastbreak. The only knock on his game would be the fact
that he is too unselfish. He consistently passed up opportunities in
order to move the ball and get his teammates involved. I think he has
NBA game that was at times held back by a college "teamwork" frame of
mind. This kid improved greatly while under the wing of Eddie Sutton, but
make no doubt about it, this kid has a major up-side!
