The Sustainable Farming Program at Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) grew out of a desire to address the needs of the farm community in Chatham County and the surrounding Piedmont region of North Carolina. Initiated by Harvey Harman, a local grower, the program quickly formed into a one-of-a-kind coalition of community members, CCCC, NC Cooperative Extension Service, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, R.E.A.L. Enterprises, NC A&T University and NC State University.

The broad based-coalition has gathered its expertise to develop a curriculum that gives the students the entrepreneurial and technical skills necessary to develop and manage a profitable, environmentally sound, community based small farm or agricultural business. Spring 2000 classes begin the week of January 24, internship program available.

Offers an Associate degree in Sustainable Agriculture, in addition to continuing education program.
