Hey, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your BBQ Pages.
I spent one year in Lexington NC as an exchange student (87/88) and was a
regular customer at BBQ #1, and some other BBQ places I can't remember the
name of. As you can't get anything that even resemble BBQ in Norway, your
pages gave me a great craving for a decent BBQ platter. Went back there in
'92 and had BBQ about 15 times in 3 weeks. I can't wait to get over there
again. Great people and great food. See ya, Stein

Okay. Nice page Adam, but why the FUCK isn't Danny's Barbeque mentioned
on the barbeque page? It drills Bullock's a new asshole. There's two of 'em in
Cary. Mmmmmmmmm...

Hi. I'm a reporter at the Greensboro News & Record. I'm doing a story on
Lexington BBQ and happened upon your web sight. I was wondering if you
are from this area, and, if so, if I might be able to interview you for
my story. Please write back and let me know.
Ps. We leave in asheboro and your list inspired us to give the blue mist a
try...we always drive past. now we'll have to stop!

You're right, Lex BBQ is tops, and the Lex BBQ on I-85 is the summit. I am
from Lex, and never grow tired of it. That was my high school hangout.
Sacred ground. Congrats on having such a sophisticated palate.--Honeymonk@aol.com
PS "Honeymonk" is the insider name for the Lexington BBQ. That's what it
used to be called. Want more info on that? Let me know.

Hi there. Visited the Shinola page - loved it. Any recommendations for
bbq pits in Florida? We're willing to travel anywhere in the state, or
surrounding states for that matter, just to get our fill. BBQ is limited
up in our part of Canada. The two guys from Oklahoma we counted on for
years finally got sick of the snow and bailed out. We need a fix. Can
you help, please? --Tim and Linda

I didn't expect to be published. My fifteen seconds of fame, I guess. I'll
try to get you directions and an address asap. I could find the place in my
sleep but can't even tell you the name of the street it's on. I'm always
stopping at any place that even looks like it might have barbecue, so I'll
keep you posted. The web page is a great idea. Soon the world will know
what we've known for years - N.C barbecue is the best!

I found your NC barbeque page. It is great. Several of the places
mentioned are also on my list to return to. Try Alston Bridges in
Shelby. This used to have my personal favorite in all of NC.
We have a dilemma. We have a wedding in northern New Jersey in Oct. The
bride and groom want to have NC style barbeque served for dinner. Good
choice, much better than getting married in New Jersey. Do you know who
takes "PROPER" southern barbeque on-the-road? I know, silly question.
Who in their right mind would want to go to northern New Jersey to serve
NC barbeque.--Andy Hammer

Quick note to say I really enjoyed your page. Hope you can try the original
Stamey's in Greensboro sometime. We are of no relation to the "Stamey's" in
Lexington (either familial or otherwise) Hope you can give us a try soon and
make the distinction for yourself. We have been in business since 1930 and
you can trace such great barbecues as Lexington #1 "Monks" and Jimmys to our
founder and my grandfather "C. Warner Stamey".

You obviously have not been to Green River BBQ in Saluda NC. Located just
south of Hendersonville on Hwy 176. Tel. 704-749-9892. The owner Kim Talbot
has a pit he cook his pork on. Only over hardwood coals, no artificial
fuels. He has been doing it that way for 11 years. His wife Melanie runs the
kitchen and has the best home-cooked veggies and side orders. I visit the
place a least once a week. You need to check it out and put it on your list.
Have any questions e-mail me. -- Rikman2

As a co-founding member of the Rocket-Q team, salute. It's great to see
homage paid to barbeque, however there are some great Eastern North
Carolina restaurants not represented on your list, with the possible
exception of Joe's. We drove from Columbia, SC to Joe's this weekend as
well as 12 other NC Barbeque restaurants in search of the best vinegar
and pepper-based barbeque. We rated the Q according to texture,
consistency, sauce, sides, flavor, and atmosphere. After 15 sandwiches,
many sides, 950 miles and approx. 25 lbs of bring back barbeque we
declared the winners. Keep up the good work. P.S. We went to Lexington
BBQ last month and it appeared to be closed.

Jackson's is in Wilmington, NC at 920 South Kerr Avenue. Based on your
rating system and places I have eaten, I would give Jackson's 2 pigs.
The barbeque is pretty good, the brunswick stew and cornbread sticks are
really good, and the selection of veggies is nice. I think it is
important to have a little coverage east of Goldsboro, besides
the Skylight Inn. I like your page. Keep expanding your coverage.
Any good recipes for sauces, preparation, etc. would be great too.

Here's a suggestion...
I used to live in Salisbury NC and doud to area bbq's that are worth a
mention. One is in Salisbury and is called "FRANKIES CHICKEN SHACK" and
thats what it is a shack. They have the best bbq chicken I've ever had.
Ralph Ketner of Food Lion fame tried to by thier recipie but they
would'nt sell. Alas its been so long I can't remember road names and the
such but if you can find Salisbury somone can tell you where it is.
Second.... While in the area try College BBQ out next to Catawba College
in Salisbury. Exxcellent in town BBq. Avoid Steve's as personally I
remember it to suck.
Third... If you go out to Catawba collage on the main road (the collage
will be on the left and right of you) and continue on into the country
You'll find F&F BBQ (15 to 20 mins from collage) on the right hand side
after a major intersection. This in my opinion is the best bbq in NC and
the hushpuppies are like crack!!!!!!! Oh yea get the chopped platter
load it down with sauce and enjoy, hell have one for me!!!!!!!!
I hope ya try them and I know you'll enjoy them.

A request por favor. Round off this wonderful internet site with a
recipe for "Lexington" BBQ sauce. As a native North Carolinian, and a
graduate of UNC [per your email address], I am living in the Atlanta
area. Here we are forced to eat fine BBQ topped with unedible sauce.

Subject: In Search of Great North American Barbeque!
Hi! I browsed your Web page and found it to be the best hot links barbeque
oriented page on the net I've seen so far. I have some friends that are
traveling from Texas up to Connecticut by car, and I am wondering if you
could give me any tips on good barbeque along the way. Since they are heading
via Nashville, I felt as if they should really benefit from such a trip going
through the "Barbeque Belt" and pick up some reggional delecacies to bring
back with them. They are hitting Austin, Texas, and straight up through
Tennessee to the North-East. I figure they can have a well-rounded
understanding of the typical regional styles of Barbeque by sampling the best
places along the way. And we all know that Barbeque can be made in so many
different styles. (i.e. Pulled pork, slow cooked, smoked, variety of toppings
& sauces, etc...)
Your page has covered North Carolina really, really well. Do you have any
suggestions for Deep in the heart of Texas, or Tennessee, or anywhere along
the way?
I thank you for your informative html page.
Sincerely Hungry, Edgar

Your bbq page seems to have fallen off the net :-(
Would you be willing to email me the files if you're not planning to keep
them around? Anyone who likes the Skylight and Lexington #1 has got things
about right in my book. Regards, Larry

Sorry to hear about your server's problems, but I'm glad you have backups
ready to roll. BTW, I think you have the best BBQ page on the web. Have
you registered it with Yahoo, etc.? --Larry

Love your Q list!! Will plan my next trip home around it. One question - The Blue
Mist burned down many years ago, and my information has always been (much to my
great sorrow) that it was never rebuilt. Dare I hope that its appearance on your
list means it exists once again???? Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks.
