From 1944-1945, Eastwind was assigned to CINCLANT, stationed at Boston, Mass. and operated in Greenland waters throughout WWII.

On 4 Oct 44 a two-platoon landing force captured a German weather station at Little Koldeyey, Greenland, with 12 prisoners:


Transferring captured equipment to Eastwind.

On 15 Oct 44, supported by Southwind (WAG-280), captured German weather ship Externsteine off Cape Borgen, Shannon Island, Greenland, with 17 prisoners. The Externsteine was taken to Boston by a prize crew:
