I have an enquiry from an Ontario family who owns a 30 cow dairy in
Costa Rica. A year ago, they cross-fenced the 40 ac of pasture into
32 paddocks, and are now rotationally grazing, although it sounded
like this was mostly new to them. They wanted advice on how to
reduce their needs for supplementary concentrates.
Without knowing any more about them, I agreed to put out a query on
their behalf on pasture species, and specifically, pasture legumes
for use in Costa Rica. Can anyone advise on the following:
a) whom they should contact in Costa Rica for extension advice?
b) pasture legumes - will white clover do there, or is it tropical
legumes only?
Thanks in advance. Ann
