INFORMATION REQUEST




         I am researching various uses of cowpeas and bananas (not
necessarily in
the same system) in indigenous, sustainable, small-scale cropping
systems.
I have come across examples of both, such as cowpeas used in upland
rice
production, cowpeas intercropped with cereals, tied ridges, cover
crops, etc.
However, most of the material that I am finding is about research
conducted on-site at the major research stations. If you can suggest
other sustainable uses of these two crops
that you have seen in practice (other than those mentioed about) I
am very
interested in hearing about them.
        The purpose of this information is that it will be included
in a series
of fact sheets that are being produced by the Rodale Institute. The
sheets will
include basic information about each crop, as well as examples of
various uses.
