Ark. Extension Position



	The Cooperative Extension Service at the University of Arkansas seeks
applicants for a 12-month position. The position is a 100% Extension
Livestock Specialist - Forages appointment located at Little Rock. The
successful candidate will be responsible for statewide Extension education
programs in beef cattle with emphasis in forages. Duties and
responsibilities include developing strong applied Extension programs in
efficient utilization of forages to improve the profitability of beef cattle
production (including harvested forages and grazing systems), forage
adaptation, establishment and management, and transfer of information and
technologies to county Extension faculty. The successful candidate will
contribute as a member of the Arkansas Beef Improvement Program, an IRM
program. The position requires a doctorate degree in animal science,
agronomy, plant science or a related discipline. The potential candidate
must demonstrate the ability to work with groups as well as with
individuals; to communicate effectively, both verbally and written; to
interpret and apply research results; and must be a team player. Preference
will be given to individuals who have practical Extension and/or research
experiences in forage adaptation, establishment, and grazing management and
utilization. Deadline for application is July 1, 1997, and may be extended
without notice. Salary commensurate with training and experience. Qualified
