Your concerns are certainly valid.. but I have three points to make on
this.. 1) I've been on 3 ag related usenet groups for well over a year..
and have seen spams to be sure.. but not of such a huge amount that they
concern me.. and I don't _remember_ seeing any from anti-beef people. 2)
Moderating a usenet group is one tough, time consuming job. A job I'm
certainly not willing to take on. What say we give this a chance, and if
a majority of readers feel in the future that the group should be
moderated, we can always change later, if we can find someone willing to
take on the task. 3) Environmentalists and others should be heard by all
of us.. we can disregard the arguments we deem not valid.. and work with
the ones that will help us gear our product toward what the consumer
wants. If we shut these people out .. then only the consumer hears
them.. we will all be screwed.
