"Iona McCormick" replies:
Having 15 to 20 horses at a time has given me an ample supply of horse
manure. Mine is mixed with sawdust which I use for bedding. I pile most
of it up in the chicken yard which seems to keep the flies down and the
chickens break up the apples. <snip>

redneck replies in another post:
:Fortunate man... Horse manure as you describe it pobably the best
:manure going! Horse manure is fairly high in nitrogen compared to
:sheep and cow so it's good for any garden. However, if it isn't well
:rotted...weeds may be a problem because a horses stomach will pass
:seeds. It will be a welcome addition to any orchard.

Seeds in the horse manure can be a problem, but if you want to be sure
you could do what Iona does, and let the chickens pick at it and you
will soon find that it becomes weed free .....

However, whether these seeds reappear in the chicken manure I have no
idea.... does anyone know?
