Project Organizer -- Biologically Integrated Orchard Systems -- CAFF Foundation

A new project has been developed for Merced County almond growers who wish to 
reduce their use of pesticides and/or synthetic fertilizers.  This project,
known as 
"Biologically Integrated Orchard Systems" or BIOS, is coordinated and sponsored
financially by the Community Alliance with Family Farmers Foundation (CAFF 
Foundation).  This project gives farmers the opportunity to learn how to manage
their 
orchards using cover crops, beneficial insects, and other biological practices.
Farmers 
and their pest control advisors are working with an experienced management team
to 
monitor soil and plant nutrients, and pest and beneficial insect populations.
The project will be expanded to Stanislaus County for almond growers and to Yolo
and Solano Counties for walnut growers.

BIOS is looking for a project organizer.  The project organizer will work
closely with 
other BIOS staff to organize monthly management team meetings, grower field days
and problem-solving meetings.  Additional responsibilities will include serving
as staff 
liasion to management team members, recruiting farmers, and overall program 
development.
