Responding to Bill Duesings Message:

I enjoyed your message, but it reminded me that public broadcasting is not
exempt from the influence of large corporate interests.

I find my self being irritated every morning when my Public Radio
station acknowledges their gratitude to a large agribusiness firm that helps
sponsor Morning Edition (at least in Denver, CO). And when I watch the
evening news on Public TV, the same corporation's logo & messages are
prominently displayed.

This is the same company which has received notoriety of late for their
alleged price fixing in corn product markets. The Wall Street Journal has
been reminding us for some years that upper management of the same company
has long mainatained personal ties to the most influential congressmen--on
both sides of the aisle. The same management is notorious of extravagant
donations to campaigns of both parties. Can we doubt that government programs
for corn, soybean, and sugar have been influenced by this 'benificent'
corporation's interests?

The reach of large corporations is distressing.

Sincerely,
Ed Sparling
