manure and weeds

Does anyone have the scoop of why chicken litter
stimulates weeds when applied to pastures
? I have heard that the manure itself contains
weed seed because lower grade soymeal fed to
chickens contains weed seed. I find this hard to
beleive since a chicken has a gizzard equipped
to digest weed seed. I have also heard that
the ammonia contained in the litter stimulated
weed seed germination or that it is simply a
nitrogen response. Does anyone have any definitive
answer as to what the process actually is?
