McGregor/Duesing

Does it do any good to sling labels of "goon" or "green wing of
conventional agriculture?" (I'm referring to a posting by Gil Gillespie.)
I'm reminded of sectarian political groups arguing about the correct line.

We're ultimately in this together because it's one earth. I personally
find Duesing a bit starry-eyed for my taste, but I'm nonetheless delighted
that he's doing his thing--educating kids and pursuing happiness in the sun
and rain with good food. I also found McGregor refreshing in his
straightforward pragmatism. Please, all you organic proponents, concede
that we still don't have all the technical answers to production questions
to go whole-hog. And quit, ever, implying that all the farmers still using
chemicals are somehow backward. Continuing on that course will only retard
progress toward the goal we all share: an agriculture that is sustaining of
people, community, and nature.
