Bumble Bees

Hi folks,

The primary pollinator here on our farm is a big, beautiful, fuzzy bumble
bee. as we live in the foothills of N. California, I assume it is Bombus
sonorus (sp) The queens overwinter in the ground and emerge when the weather
warms. Unfortunately, the holes the choose to hibernate in are often in
inconvenient places for ground preparation in the Spring.

Does anyone have any way of encouraging bumble bees to nest in out-of-the-way
places so they can go about their business undisturbed?
