Sanetters,

I'm giving a talk tomorrow (11/1) and want to advocate for valid comparisons
when the efficiency of contrasting ag systems is discussed.

I have a few data gaps that I hope someone has handy. If anyone can corrctor
amend the following points that would be much appreciated. I'll summarize the
responses back for the listserve.
Sanetters,

I'm giving a talk tomorrow (11/1) and one point I want to make is for valid
comparisons when the efficiency of contrasting ag systems is discussed. Im
trying to get at what percent of the POPULATION does it take to get food from
the farm to the table.

I have a few data gaps that I hope someone has handy. If anyone can correct or
amend the following points that would be much appreciated. I'll summarize the
responses back for the listserve.

At the turn of the century (1900) one farmer fed five people.

What percent of the US POPULATION was in the Food and Fiber sector in 1900?

Currently, one farmer feeds 115(??) people.

What percent of the US POPULATION is in the Food and Fiber sector today? (The
Food and Fiber sector employs about 18% of the US work force today.)

Responses by 8 PM EST, October 31, would be much appreciated, though all
responses will be summarized for SANET.

Many thanks in advance.
