*******************-Soil Science Faculty Research Assistant-*******************
Part Time, Temporary Position (6 months) available at the University of
Maryland, College Park.
Job Description: Soil Scientist or agronomist needed to work closely with
soil quality project at the University of Maryland to adapt Soil Quality
Scorecard to Mid-Atlantic region. Research assistant will conduct on-farm
visits and interviews with growers, organize focus sessions and work with
local and national NRCS soil quality team to facilitate adoption of
scorecard in other regions of the country. Work will also involve extensive
research of Maryland agriculture
and basic and applied research in the field of soil quality.
Qualifications: M.S. in soil science or closely related field required.
Strong facilitation and organizational skills, experience working with
farmers, knowledge of and experience with research and applications of soil
quality tests and concepts, course work in education and experience with
organizing and running focus sessions strongly desired.
Local and national travel required.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
