Patricia, thanks for restating the "vision" that most of us share for
SANET. Anyone is actively working for sustainable agriculture has the
understanding that many different kinds of people have to be at the table
for meaningful changes to occur. SANET is a resource for all of us to
constructively use within a "learning mindset".

Nevertheless, while most of us agree to disagree, your suggestion for a
formal vision statement seems a healthy exercise in response to some
recent postings. Drawing an anology to classroom situations of discussion
of controversial issues, it is important to state the "rules" before
proceeding with the class. Otherwise, it can quickly become a
shouting match between hot heated opinions with little or no learning
achieved. This discussion list has had such events in the past and most
probably will also in the future. As a document sent to new subscribers,
though, it would be a clear statement of conduct expected out of all of
us.

Concerning various suggestions for "divisions" of SANET, possible it is
time to also consider the use of multiple miniSANETs for different
bioregions. Granted the delineation of bioregions tend to be problematic,
such divisions may serve to greater focus sustainable ag issues, and
promote information that's applicable to more subscribers. Discussions on
sustainable agriculture require multi-disciplinary perspectives so, I
do not think, divisions along single subjects would produce what SANET is
capable of becoming.
