Harriett,

I must agree with Taghi. I am originally from STL and would highly
suggest Soulard Market. The history of this market as well as the
history of the surrounding neighborhoods is great. Sandra Zak is the
contact person for the market. She can be reached at:

Sandra Zak
Soulard Market
730 Carroll Street
St Louis MO 63104
314-622-4180

I know that she would be more than happy to visit with you about the
market. Another good person to contact would be:

Jim Anderson
Horticulture Marketing Specialist
MO Dept of Agriculture
PO Box 630
Jefferson City, MO 65102
573-751-3394.

Jim works with all the farmers markets in the state of MO. No doubt
he would be a great resource for you about Soulard Market as well as
other markets in the state.

Missouri Alternatives Center

Definitely include St. Louis Missouri's Soulard Market, and the old town =
of which is it a hub. And while at it, take a tour of the whole =
neighbourhood and how it has gone from colonial to poor-white =
neighbourhood with heavy air pollution to revival and reconstruction. No =
doubt at the nearby Washington University and St. Louis University =
campuses you can find people who have studied this fascinating old =
farmer's market and the whole Soulard neighbourhood.
