What about some of the ornamental clump grass species? We've got some
natural ones here. They tend to show up in high water table areas, probably
because they make natural hummocks at periods of high water, and you probably
have some native species that will be good for starters. However if you
check with landscape resources, you will probably find taller clump species
than the natives. The price will be high, but you can set up to propagate
them, probably through division and maybe through seed too.
