Hello to all,
I am wondering if anyone is aware of studies that have looked at the
longterm effect of perennial vegetation on soil fertility... specifically
systems
that were analyzed prior to the establishment of the perennial vegetation
and then reanalyzed 10+ yrs later...

I am thinking of systems such as the following:

agricultutal soils allowed to return to forest succession
road cut soils planted to crown vetch
agricultural soils planted to trees...

I am interested in vegetation mediated changes in soil fertility... upward
movement of cations or other changes...

Clearly in the tropics, the slash and burn system is based on vegetation
remediating depleted soils... has anyone looked at this in a temperate
system ?
