TH: GROW News ...

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are a couple of items from the Winter 1997 newsletter
of Garden Resouces Of Washington (GROW) DC ...
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------
 Community Seed Swap -
 -------------------
Despite the cold weather, Spring is on its way and it's time to
get ready! Saturday, February 15th, from 10am-1pm, bring your
extra seeds to the Community Seed Swap at the US Botanic Garden.
Talk to the gardening experts on hand and enjoy demonstrations
 of seed-starting and transplanting.

Please be sure your seeds are in labelled packets, so people will
know what they are taking home.

 Mark Your Calendar -
 ------------------
Mark your calendar and plan to be at our Barnes & Noble 'Book Fair'
on November 8th, 1-4pm at 3040 M St NW. You shop and community
gardens benefit. For every item purchased during those three hours,
GROW receives 20% of the purchase price! Our 1996 Book Fair raised
$1,100. With your help we can double that. See you there!
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Did you hear that ? Eleven Hundred Dollars in Three Hours ! I told
you when I first heard about that fund-raiser that other communities
should be taking advantage of similar opportunities in their home-
towns. Remember GROW's example when your group is strategizing &
agonizing over how to generate some working monies for *your* trees !
