I don't see how Ny or Chicago could have 68% canopy coverage.  That is a
good canopy in a forest and I wonder if maybe it should be 6.8 and 6.3. 
That still sounds high to me unless you are including large portions of
the suburbs.  For Atlanta check with American Forests who is doing lots
of work wiht an Arc View, GIS, program called City Green(That used to be
it's name anyway.)  The home page is something like amfor.org but I
can't find it in my bookmarks.
