I think you may be confusing gymnosperms (naked seeded) with conifers 
(plants bearing fruit in cone structures).  They are not interchangable.  
However, Ginkgo biloba is one of a rare (or possibly only) broadleaved 
deciduous gymnosperm.  Ginkgo does have beautiful fall color and is the 
oldest known tree in cultivation, and beware of the malodorous "fruit".

And so the plot of the posting stream thickens.  ~;-)
