Dave Brook Asks about specific brands/models of heat/ AC equipment
people like.

I deal with chemically sensitive people and really like Intertherm
baseboard heaters (Nordyne 314-878-6200). They are low-temperature
self-contained electric/hydronic units. Low-temperature is good because
there's no fried dust. They have a baked-on powder coating, so the paint
doesn't outgas. But they aren't perfect. They seem prone to slow leaks
(they have antifreeze in them) and that can be bothersome. They start
hissing slightly when they start going bad. The good news is that they
have a 5 year warrenty, and they will replace them. Of course, they are
no more efficient than regular electric baseboards, so they only make
sense where heating loads are low. I build superinsulated houses, so
they work fine.
