You might be able to do it in much of California but would need to
carefully clean the incoming air. You probably should do this anywhere
to avoid dust buildup in airways and interior surfaces, and
consequently, increased potential for microbial growth. I would be
curious how they cleaned the outdoor air supply.

BTW, I winced at the mention of birds and bats. Bat guano (as a
bacteria source, actually) is really bad ____, and bird poop is not so
hygienic either.
