One more thing about modern Flourescents.  I read an article somewhere not
long ago that said when you consider bulb and balast life the best policy
is when you turn a flourescent light on leave it on long enough to warm up
to operating temps.  When you turn one off, leave it off at least until it
cools.  This is about a minute either way.  Short cycling does really hurt
bulb life and has some bad effects of balasts as well.
