Mohamed DaCosta was trained by elder Musa Silla Kanuteh for dance and Ali Kalissa for djembe and djun-djun of the Gambia West Africa. Mohamed taught African dance and drumming to visiting Americans and Europeans in the Gambia West Africa. He has also performed as a dancer, drummer and costume designer with the following West African based dance companies in Guinea and Senegambian regions: Allantou Troupe, Batafon, Sacred Forest and African Ballet.
